Groomer operators make snowmobiling enjoyable. Without them riding would be a nightmare. All Coldbrook operators are volunteers and spend countless hours not only operating but also repairing the groomers. So take the time and remember who they are, they are the reason for your great ride!!!

Coldbrook would like to personally thank all of it's operators for all of their work volunteered to the club. Thank You All !!!
Ben King and his wife Rebecca.
Ben grooms all of Lake Dennison with our Pisten Bully and is one of the highest standing operators/members within Coldbrook. He has been grooming for many years and has been instrumental in the relations with DCR and Army Corps of engineers. Ben and His dad (now passed away) are the reason the Otter River bridge was able to be built and installed. Ben and Becky have also participated in every aspect of Coldbrooks endeavors.  Ben wrote our trail plan that has enabled us to do all we have done within Lake Dennison and the Ware River Rail Trail. (ITS 71) Becky has run and organized many dinners and events for us. To list what they have done for us would take too much space. Thanks are not gratitude enough for all he/they have done for all of us !!!!!

Dave Eklund and his wife Becky
Dave has been a groomer operator for Coldbrook from the beginning. Dave is one of our universal operators. Meaning that he can run any and all of our groomers efficiently and safely. Dave started grooming with the old Muskeg , Ski-Dozer and Thiokol and has been here ever since. But above and beyond grooming Dave donates hundreds of hours each year and has been instrumental in achieving all of the SYMM grants we have received.  Dave also is one of the head mechanics and without him our fleet would be falling apart. No job is to big or small, for Dave. From pulling a track and a bearing housing after a 12 hour work day, to laying in a soggy puddle to get a groomer up and running, to sweeping a floor after a function he is always there. We are what we are today because of Dave and we owe him more than we could ever repay!!!

  Dave "Huey" Balchuinas
Dave has been with Coldbrook since the very first year. He started the grooming business for Coldbrook. He knew from the beginning that flat trails meant prosperity. But knowing and doing are two different things. Dave made sure that the trail system within Coldbrook was ready to be groomed. Purchasing a dozer and a tractor for clearing and brushing our trail system. His skills are the reason that our trails are what they are today. Spending thousands of hours working and maintaining the trails within our system, and too many hours to mention fixing groomers and building drags for our fleet. Dave has also been the inspiration for all of the radar runs we have had. Putting his knowledge of the sport forward so we could have well organized events and show a profit and have fun at the same time.  Every groomer that the club owns has been because of him and his extensive knowledge of riding, grooming, and trail building. His intelligence and leadership have set goals for many that are unachievable, but not for him and his club. Working with his family and close friends he has made Coldbrook what it is. Many belong to Coldbrook Snowmobile Club, but Dave is the reason for the success of Coldbrook Snowmobile Club. Check out the picture section and you will see what I mean!!

  Louis Brassard
Louis is starting his third year as an operator for Coldbrook and has been a member for many years. After completing a grueling training period, he is now a full fledged grooming operator. But above and beyond grooming, Louis is always there to give a helping hand. Whether it is cooking at a breakfast - to pulling a Tucker drive apart, to running a pole saw for hours on end, he is the man for the job. Always there to lend a hand to get the job done. Spending hundreds of hours each year in a groomers seat so we can all ride smooth trails. Learning from the ground up from the seasoned veterans, he can make a smooth trail out of just about nothing. He predominately does the trip from Coldbrook to Baldwinville with the Tucker 2000 but his versatility will allow us to put him in any groomer and receive the same trail conditions. Finding smart versatile operators like Louis is a rare feat and we are very fortunate to have him......

Phil Cormier
Phil has been with Coldbrook as long as we have been in existence. Phil started out buy purchasing his own BearCat and grooming all of the Baldwinville stretch. Phil has been involved with almost every project that has ever been done. From building all the hand rails and installing the Otter River Bridge to spending hours lugging in fuel for an excavator to build a trail to New Hampshire. Phil is one of the most dedicated groomer operators you could ever find. Spending countless hours on his old Bearcat and just as many squeezed into the Bombi to keep the trails flat. He also spends many hours working and maintaining the trails that we all enjoy so much. Phil was the first ever person to groom the Baldwinville area for the club. He groomed and donated all of his time, money and materials to get the job done. He has now been upgraded to the new ASV and has welcomed the change. He waited patiently for many years for a good machine so he could bring his family out with him. When you are whipping from the Otter River Bridge into Lake Dennison and out to Waterville Plaza, Phil helps keep it groomed signed and safe for all who ride the trail. A man of few words but when he speaks people listen, Coldbrook is extremely lucky to have Phil on board, Thanks Phil !!!

Chris Ferragamo and his daughter Sophia.
Chris started grooming two years ago and earned his grooming wings last year.  After going through the same training period as Louie he has shown his skill and dedication earning him the credentials as a groomer operator. Chris has been taking turns running the ASV and is now training on the Pisten Bully in Lake Dennison. Chris was the driving factor along with Jay Wrightman in getting the trail to Waterville plaza wide enough to get a full size groomer through. This new addition was a major accomplishment for the club all because of the efforts of these two men. Chris is an avid grass drag racer and a dedicated snowmobiler usually putting on in excess of 2500 miles per year. He is always on the ball with new ideas and suggestions and isn't afraid to back up his ideas with hard work. New operators like Chris ensure many seasons of riding for us all.

Tom Donahue
Tom has been in the club for many years and started training to become an operator three years ago. Tom has been in charge of Rutland State Park and the southern section of trail for the past season. His job is one of the most difficult for he is constantly having to set up grooming times with the DCR watershed rangers to get the park groomed. Tom is also the main trail boss for the southern section of the club. He operates the smaller Tucker 2000 in his area. Dedication is an understatement for this young man and he holds the future of our sport in his hands with many other younger members. Always there to help and never complains, Tom is the true meaning of volunteer..

Gerry Cremin
Gerry has been in training now for a half season. He is a Coldbrook BOD and long time member. Gerry is our full time groomer moving transport go to guy and never complains. He has stepped up and is learning the machines from the ground up and after a few more runs will be out on his own to keep them flat. Many thanks to him for all of his hard work and time given to our club.

Gerry Balchuinas
This is the man behind all of the workings of the Coldbrook Snowmobile Club. He is the person in charge of making all of the difficult decisions should we groom or shouldn't we. He has been grooming for over 20 years and is versatile in every groomer Coldbrook has. His brother Dave and him are the only operators to have taken and participated in the Vermont groomer training exercises and scored #1(Dave) and #2 (Gerry) in the class. Gerry spends more time in the seat of a groomer than anyone within the Coldbrooks realm. Predominately he likes the Pisten Bully but also fills in extensively for operators who can't make it in to groom.  He is in charge of training and selecting all of Coldbrooks operators, setting up the grooming schedules and coordinating with all of the operators to make sure the job is done. He also represents Coldbrook at SAM meetings and writes all of our grooming contracts and keeps the logs for submission to SAM all season for reimbursement from them. He spends countless hours working on all of the groomers and making sure that the entire fleet is ready for snow. From welding to turning wrenches to making sure the machines are all fueled up, to meeting with state and local officials to ensure our trails and grooming, he does it all. This is on top of coordinating all of the other functions that go on in Coldbrook. When you think of Coldbrook this is the face that should come to mind!!!
